| It all began with a birthday dress..... When my daughter celebrated her 1st birthday, I knew I had to have one of those adorable monogrammed cupcake dresses you see all over the web. I purchased one and it was very cute....... but then I washed it. The fabric was of poor quality and it looked quite worn after one wash. My daughter's dress was not destined to be a treasured heirloom, afterall. I resolved then that I would create a unique birthday dress using only the best materials. Soon after, the "Ella Kate" birthday dress was introduced and today remains our best selling dress. We use only the finest fabric and each dress is hand crafted here in the USA. Since then, our birthday dress line has greatly expanded and we now feature all the matching accessories. As the owner, I am still very much involved in running the business and creating new products. However, I could not do all that we do without the help of my staff. April was my first seamstress and has been with me faithfully these past 4 years. Known for her detail and perfectionism, she is our "Ella Kate" dress specialist and makes each cupcake applique/dress by hand. Mei is originally from China and comes from a long line of seamstresses. She can quickly whip up a huge order of dresses and each one will be simply perfect! We love her because she ties the best bows. We owe much thanks to her husband Greg who sometimes needs to translate for us. Not only does he makes us laugh, but he can without hesitation tell you the difference between a bloomer and a pantaloon. Diane and Beverly help out with all the monogramming we do! Diane is so much more than just a monogrammer. She has many creative designs in our store but most of all, she has helped me out of more "jams" than I can count! Kristie is my web designer and webmaster. She is super creative and is self taught. I am amazed by her talent! She designs all my banners, business cards, labels and anything else requiring any creative graphics. If you come to our store, what will you find? Well, your first thought will probably be PINK and very girly. I am well aware that there are just as many boy babies out there, but truthfully...boy stuff does not excite people quite the way girl stuff does. I do have some boy items, but you may have to search a bit more. You will find 100% unique mostly handmade custom products. I look for things not easily found in other stores (if it is at Target or Nordstrom, I try to not stock those items), handcrafted in some way (I am proud to sell many etsy and other mom made products) and items produced right here in the US. All of our toys are of the fair trade handknitted variety. We hope to offer something special for everyone who shops with us. Looking for something specific? Since then, the company has moved to Northern California and now is based in St Louis, MO (the home town she said she would never move back to..... famous last words). The owner and founder, Jennifer resides in the St Louis suburbs with her husband, 2 kids and 2 German Shorthair Pointers. A former flight attendant, Jennifer immensely enjoys keeping her feet on the ground while dreaming up new birthday outfits and wishing the day was longer than 24 hours. She has an expensive obsession with fabrics and can often be found in her office surrounded by rolls of polka dot ribbon and sketches of new birthday dress designs.
